Job Description:
This individual will be part of a team developing and supporting new and existing AIX-WebSphere environments.
The Sr WebSphere Administrator/Architect performs the installation, configuration, and day-to-day tasks associated with ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a WebSphere runtime environment.
This includes product installation, configuration and deployment of J2EE applications, connecting to back-end resources, performance tuning, automation, and troubleshooting. Additionally, this individual will assist in the development of detailed architectural designs and roadmaps for current and future WebSphere infrastructures.
This individual is expected to be self-sufficient and able to perform most of the tasks involved in the role with limited assistance from peers, product documentation, and vendor support services. May also direct and lead the work of others in a similar role.
This role requires participation in an on-call rotation supporting 24x7 critical production applications.
This job family is differentiated from the Solutions Architecture Job Family by generally focusing on specific technology domains versus end to end Solutions.
Requisitos
- Proven experience installing, configuring, tuning, automating, and troubleshooting WebSphere Application Server v6 and/or 6.1/v7 in a clustered deployment model;
- Installation and configuration of WebSphere software on IBM AIX servers;
- Set up application instances required to create all the different logical environments in the system development life cycle (dev, sit, test, uat, prod);
- Maintain every environment by setting up automated start up and shutdown scripts, implement automated monitoring and alerting mechanisms;
- Configure the required web server (Apache) with the Application server software plug-in;
- Gather the required information from the application development teams necessary to configure the Application server software for each application;
- Conduct quality reviews of application requirements, design and code. Suggest enhancements and enforce standards and best practices;
- Configure the Application server software to each individual application?s requirements;
- Performance tuning the Application server software for optimization of use. This will include working closely with the application development teams to administer load testing and monitoring;
- Provide development support to the application development teams;
- Research and troubleshoot problems related the Application server software, the applications that run on them as well as the external systems that they interact with;
- Work closely with other technology teams (network, OS, storage?) to engineer solutions and solve problems;
- Create documentation during project life cycle as well as enhance existing standards and procedural documentation;
- Demonstrated experience automating routine administration and troubleshooting tasks
- Working knowledge of widely used IT best practice and process improvement methodologies;
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to lead other team members and facilitate innovative thinking to solve technology issues;
- Must be able to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Key skills required: (in the order of priority)
- IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V6.0 Certification (AIX) - highly preferred;
- Understanding of the IBM pSeries architecture;
- Experience with performance monitoring tools, esp. CA Wily Introscope;
- Understanding of Oracle;
- Mortgage or other financial services industry experience.
