Academic and Professional formation
November 2011 to present – R&D Engineer / Project manager @ CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials. Responsible for etching and thin film deposition processes; responsible for process & materials development, characterization and testing (DOE); co-supervisor of the re-equipment of the company for scaling-up production; project manager.
Processes where I am involved:
-Thin films deposition for OLEDs and OPVs applications using thermal evaporation, sputtering and CVD;
-Thin films deposition for mobile electronics components;
-ITO Etching;
-High vacuum and cryogenic systems.
Main tasks as R&D Engineer: Plan and execute effective, well-designed experiments and write clear, concise reports documenting the results;physical film analysis techniques such as EDS, SEM, TEM and FTIR; hands-on experience in CVD and deposition tool maintenance and improvement; thin film electrical evaluation techniques such as impedance and capacitance; knowledge of chemistry/physics of oxidation processes, interface effects and defect/trap formation.
Main tasks as Project Manager: Management of resources, time, budget and scope of the projects; definition of project requirements and deliverables; installation of new equipments; contacts and follow up with clients; implementation of project plans to meet objectives; coordination of project activities; preparation of technical and user documents; project status presentations; coordination with other company groups; R&D follow-up and tests.
Abril 2011 to September 2011 – Researcher at Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto – LSRE (Laboratory of Separation and Reaction Engineering) in collaboration with CICECO – Centre for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials (University of Aveiro) working on theoretical development of chemical quantum models and chemical adsorption of gases.
September 2009 to March 2011 – R&D Engineer / Project Manager at INOV - Institute of New Technologies working on the development of electro-optical systems for industry. Project manager of 3 different projects: DEOSOM – “Detection and Evaluation of Oil Spills by Optical Methods”, LIF-LIDAR and NANOMICRO - micro production of low dimensional structures. Team leader of a 8 people group.
August 2006 to September 2009 – Researcher at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) working on optical, structural and magnetic characterization of semiconductor materials for photovoltaic applications (SiGe, InAs, InP) - see below in the Publications section all the main studies developed. Expert in vacuum systems & spectrometers: Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence spectroscopy in the VIS-IR, Fourrier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, Superconducting Quantum Interference Devices magnetometer, Raman spectroscopy in the UV-VIS, Vibrating Sample Magnetometer, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, Cryogenic Systems, LASERS.

July 2007 – Master degree in Physic Engineering with the thesis Optical characterization of InAs/InP quantum wires, N.M. Santos, Aveiro (Portugal) – with a classification of 16 (0 to 20) from the University of Aveiro.
January 2007 – Graduation in Physical Engineering with the thesis Study of irradiation defects in InAs/InP quantum wires and quantum wells – with a classification of 16 (0 to 20) from the University of Aveiro (Portugal).
